WHAT OUR CAMPAIGN PROPOSES . . .

 

Because statutes of limitations do nothing to protect children, our campaign proposes that Floridians amend our state constitution to eliminate any statute of limitations to institute prosecution of a criminal or any civil action relating to sexual battery of a child if the victim is under 16 at the time of the offense.

 

WHY OUR CAMPAIGN IS NEEDED …

 

 

•     For over five years child abuse survivors and their supporters have been asking the Florida Legislature to change the law and stop protecting child abusers and those who harbor them by imposing time deadlines for taking legal action against them – but the Legislature has failed and refused to act!

 

•     There are known child sex abusers walking our streets free from prosecution because they managed to intimidate and terrorize their victims into years of silence.  

 

•     These predators are not even listed on any child predator registry. 

 

•     Statutes of limitation do NOTHING to protect children.
