PROTECT OUR KIDS FIRST, Inc. is …

We are a campaign to amend Florida’s Constitution to eliminate statutes of limitation (the deadlines for filing legal actions) in cases of sexual battery against children.  Statutes of limitation do not put child safety first — instead they block legal prosecution of those who harm children and those who fail to uphold their duty to protect children.  Child abusers don’t deserve that protection.

We are a campaign to alert Floridians that …

•     Our state laws right now have statutes of limitation that child sex predators — and those who give them access to children to victimize — are using to avoid answering for their actions in criminal and civil courts.  

•     This is not safe for kids because time runs out on criminal and civil prosecution when abusers succeed in intimidating and threatening their child victims into years of silence.

•     This is not safe for kids because these laws leave child predators on our streets beyond the reach of the law.

•     This is not fair because those who give safe haven to child sex predators and fail to protect children when they are supposed to be taking care of them — such as churches, recreation centers, and day care centers — are getting off the hook when they should pay for the harm they cause.  This leaves child victims and their families without help.
